Organizational Resiliency

The strength and resiliency of Montana’s nonprofits is key to improving health for Western Montanans.

Group of people learning in conference room

We regularly ask our grantee partners about their challenges, needs and priorities and endeavor to be adaptive to their feedback. In our most recent Grantee Needs Assessment, organizations said that they could achieve better outcomes if funders invested in the leadership and capacity of their organizations.

We are committed to strengthening organizations and the nonprofit sector through flexible, long-term funding as well as non-monetary support, such as:

Technical assistance, training and support

In areas such as fundraising and grant-writing, communications and marketing, policy and advocacy, budgeting and accounting, and more.

1:1 coaching

For professionals to access support with a coach they trust to help them overcome barriers and grow as leaders.

Convening, collaboration and networking

Opportunities for organizations to connect with others in their field to share learnings, brainstorm solutions and coordinate their work.

There is no one-size-fits-all approach, and the best solutions are those that are driven and welcomed by our grantee partners. If you are a Headwaters grantee in need of capacity-building services or have an idea for how Headwaters can strengthen Western Montana nonprofits, please contact us.

We invited capacity builders in Montana to participate in a survey and brief interview to understand what is offered in Montana, what barriers are present, and visions for the future.
