We approach our partner relationships from a place of trust. By practicing Trust-Based Philanthropy, we strive to break the traditional power dynamic between funder and grantee.

Organizational Resiliency
The strength of Montana’s nonprofits is key to improving health for Western Montanans. We regularly ask our grantee partners about their challenges, needs and priorities and endeavor to be adaptive to their feedback.

Learning and Evaluation
Headwaters takes a different approach to evaluation. We created a reporting process centered around learning together, positioning grantees and the foundation as true partners in the work to improve health in Western Montana.
